What to Know About Visiting the Yves Saint Laurent Museum in Marrakech
1. Purchase your tickets online and in advance
We were only able to purchase our tickets to the Yves Saint Laurent Museum in Marrakech online and I recommend doing so in advance to avoid not being able to go when you want to.
I didn’t know about this the first time I visited and though I’d be able to purchase it at the entrance but that was not the case.
We were able to go online and purchase it and luckily, there were still some spots left!
If you’re unable to find tickets on the official website, try these ones.
2. There’s a gift shop with pretty cool stuff
Make sure to spend some time at the gift shop when you visit!
There aren’t any high end garments on sale, but you can purchase some pretty cool artwork, posters, books, and other pretty visually stunning souvenirs to bring back home.
3. There’s a lovely café in the museum
There’s a pretty garden café on the museum’s patio.
Seats are usually taken, so we didn’t get to try it, but if you manage to grab a spot, definitely linger there a while! It’s a great spot for photos 🙂
You can also book a table in advance to ensure a spot: +212 6 62 62 70 43 or email cafe.lestudio@museeyslmarrakech.com
4. There’s another café right in front of the museum which I did try
We hadn’t had breakfast when we visited the Yves Saint Laurent Museum in Marrakech and since the café was full, we tried the option of a café that’s right in front of the museum instead.
It was lovely! The decor is gorgeous and I loved the crepes and coffee served here.
Don’t forget travel insurance for your trip to Marrakech! We love using Safety Wing because it’s super affordable at just a couple dollars per day and will have you covered on everything so you can focus on enjoying your trip! Get travel insurance here.
5. You can’t take photos inside the museum
No photos are allowed inside the exhibitions, which was pretty disheartening as there are some lovely garments!
There are guards in pretty much every corner watching out for people taking photos, so don’t even try because they’re pretty feisty.
6. Arrive early if you want to take that iconic photo
You’ve probably seen that iconic entrance photo on Instagram already.
If you want your own, I’d recommend you arrive about half an hour before your ticket’s entrance hour so you can be first in line for it.
Have your poses and angles prepared because you won’t have much time. Most people in line after us were pretty patient, but you’ll feel the pressure regardless.
Being last in line would work as well so you don’t feel pressured, but I wouldn’t risk it because if the people before you take too long, the guards may rush you to the entrance.
So… to be on the safe side: Arrive early, take some photos first, and then wait for everyone after you to be done so you can get a bit more time before a guard tells you time’s up. This way you get two shots at getting the perfect photo!
